Care facilities

The Matron and Deputy Matron, who are both qualified nurses, head up the nursing team and are responsible for the overall running of the care home. Both are first level general nurses and along with other staff, hold specialist qualifications in the care of the elderly enhanced by mental health expertise and end-of-life care credentials.

Care Assistants are given access to Health and Social Care Diplomas at levels 2 and 3 as well as training specific to the suite on which they provide care. Dementia and Dignity Champions also provide support throughout the home.

Each nursing suite is managed by a qualified nurse. This Unit Manager leads a team of specialist, qualified nurses and carers who ensure that the skill sets of the staff on their respective suite meets the needs of their particular client group.

Qualified, experienced nursing staff are on duty at all times to ensure the needs of all residents are met. Domestic services are provided by skilled staff in the kitchens, laundry, housekeeping, administration and maintenance to ensure that the care home continues to meet the high standards of comfort and care that has established Chadderton Total Care as a market leader in its field.

From its inception in the 1980’s, as a purposely designed and built care home, the management of Total Care has placed great emphasis on ensuring the facility provides the most sympathetic and appropriate environment in which its patrons would enjoy the best possible care and living standards. These principles have endured as the home has continued to develop over the decades and the facilities have been enhanced.

As an extensive, single storey building, all accommodation and resident facilities are at ground floor level throughout the home. The various, well-appointed lounges and dining areas are open-plan providing ample space for moving around, especially for wheelchair users, which brings a valuable social benefit to the home for those who want it.

All rooms are large enough to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids, have their own television and nurse-call system and most include a telephone. All rooms have a washbasin; with some enjoying en suite facilities including all rooms in the Saddleworth and Dales suites.

Within each nursing suite, there are bathrooms and showers especially designed to cater for all patrons with a variety of needs and all toilet facilities are large enough to accommodate wheelchair users.

There are three garden areas which are enclosed within the grounds along with sheltered areas where residents can relax and share time with their families. Conservatory areas with pools and fountains provide contemplative areas to enjoy natural daylight. Open visiting is encouraged at all times and we welcome young children and pets on consultation with the Unit Manager.
